Bucs Fall 7-2 as Taillon Struggles

Pirate fans looked toward this game with a great amount of hope for their team with a favorable pitching matchup. Reds rookie Rookie Davis was on the mound and the team was going for a nice win with Jameson Taillon on the hill. Unfortunately, this was not the case for the team.

The Bucs fell 7-2 to Cincinnati tonight behind a very strong performance by Davis going five innings and not allowing a run. He also walked three and struck out two. Billy Hamilton and Eugenio Suárez both hit three-run blasts off Taillon to lead the Reds offense. Devin Mesoraco also went deep in the game. Drew Storen and Raisel Iglesias both continued their strong starts to the season both pitching clean innings and recording a strikeout.

The Pirates bats provided very little offense again as the team only scored two runs. Andrew McCutchen provided both of the runs by hitting a two-run homer off of reliever Cody Reed and going 1-for-5 on the day. Harrison, Bell, Diaz and Mercer provided the only other four hits for the team. Trevor Williams gave up one run in two innings of work and Tony Watson again gave up no runs in an inning of work to lower his era to 0.87 on the season.

The Pirates and Reds will play the series finale tomorrow at 12:35PM at Great American Ball Park. Tim Adleman will pitch for Cincinnati against the red hot reigning NL Pitcher of the Month Ivan Nova.
