Red Sox 4, Pirates 3

The Pirates (3-6) received a very strong start today from Chad Kuhl going through 6.1 innings giving up only one run and striking out six before watching the bullpen blow it in the bottom of the 8th inning. Andrew McCutchen hit his first home run of the season over the green monster to give the Bucs an early 2-0 lead.

LHP Eduardo Rodríguez pitched for Boston (5-4) and went 5.1 innings while striking out eight batters. Down 3-1, the Red Sox got three runs in the 8th inning as Daniel Hudson and Juan Nicasio blew the lead for Pittsburgh. Shoddy defense by Starling Marte in center and Phil Gosselin at second base helped the Sox extend the inning and ultimately take the lead.

The Bucs will look to snap their four-game losing streak tomorrow against the Cubs to start a three-game series in Wrigley Field. Gerrit Cole will start against Kyle Hendricks for Chicago.

In other news around the city and the world of sports, the Steelers and the city of Pittsburgh lost a legend today as Steelers chairman Dan Rooney passes away at the age of 84. He will definitely be missed by not just Pittsburgh sports fans, but by fans around the world.
