The Final Game of Spring 2016

The Pirates close the book on the Grapefruit League action for the year this afternoon at Port Charlotte when they face the Rays.

The front office announced this morning that Cory Luebke and Kyle Lobstein will be in the bullpen to start the year leaving just the bench spots as the only remaining mystery. I’d imagine the Bucs already know who they’re taking to Pittsburgh with them for Sunday and this game today in Port Charlotte won’t change that.

Lobstein will start today for one final tuneup before the regular season begins Sunday. He has a 1.64 ERA in 11.0 innings this spring.

One interesting note, at least to me, is that NH said in his in-game interview yesterday that Morse’s health could still shake things up if he’s to hit the DL. So Morse is injured then, right? Well he’s starting today against the Rays. Sooo I’m guessing it’s not that major to still play a spring training game. Not sure what’s happening there, but we should find out the full roster today or Saturday in Indy when they go to take on the Reds at Victory Field.
